La Arepa de María looks to stand in solidarity with the emotional hunger of millions of Venezuelans who have fled their country in recent years and made 'home' across the world; whether it be across South America, Spain and even Scotland. We are excited to be working in collaboration with Glasgow based hospitality student María Virginia Fereira on an event that sets itself the task of both celebrating the diversity of Venezuelan cuisine, which reflects the country's varied climates, its urban and indigenous populations, its oceans and table-top mountains, its colonial history, its multi-ethnicities and pluri-cultures as well as acknowledging a country where food, or the scarcity of it, sits at the heart of the nation's current turmoil.
Join us for traditional arepas, from the region of Maracaibo, the country's national dish Pabellón criollo, Torta Tres Leches, conversation and more!
